Additionally, starting Memorial Day and running through Labor Day, Westside Gamers meetings will begin at 5:00pm for Summer Hours.
The Kickstater to help GameHaus Cafe hit the ground running has begun. GameHaus Cafe, a soon to be opened gaming cafe in Glendale, California, is based on the style of Snakes and Lattes in Toronto, Canada. Customers will be able to order a variety of drinks and food, while checking out and playing a wide variety of board games from their large library of games. Check out their Kickstater while we all eagerly anticipate its opening later this Summer.
Wow, did that come up fast! Memorial Day Weekend is here again, and with is Strategicon – Gamex. Gaming starts tomorrow, May 24th at Noon at the Sheraton Gateway. Tickets are still available at the door for the entire weekend, or individual days.
As such, LA Games will be forgoing their regularly scheduled meetings on both Friday and Sunday, but that doesn’t mean that if you aren’t going to the con that you can’t show up to either location, it is just less likely that there will be anyone there to play games with.
On the other hand, Friday Night Dice will be closed for this Friday’s meeting, please do not show up as the location will not be open and available.
With this Sunday, May 12th, being Mother’s Day, not everyone will be attending the weekly session. It would be helpful to those that have the ability to attend to know whether others will be as well. Please chime in in the discussion thread. Additionally, for fast verification, please also vote in the poll at the bottom of the page.
I, myself, will not be attending this Sunday, but I hope that those of you who do have a great time.
UPDATE: Since I posted this article this morning, all bargain games that were on the site have disappeared and the entire bargain category has been removed. I sure hope that those of you that heard about this were able to get copies.
Normally I like to steer people in the direction of their FLGS (Friendly Local Game Store) to pick up games and support those businesses putting out a larger capital risk that help support our hobby, but there is a deal on a game we featured yesterday that I can not see being passed up.
Giants (BGG link) is available from the online retailer Toys for Thought at a base price of $17.99. They are also having a sale of 10% off, through May 1st, if you use the code ‘games10‘ (thanks Boris [borislock] from BGG). Yes, the shipping is a bit steep ($13.50), but there is no sales tax (for California at least), and even with that added in, it is still cheaper at $29.70 than any other retailer that I have found by a large margin.
With the game’s creative pseudo-cooperative movement mechanic, beautiful artwork, and outstanding pieces (different minis for each player, not just color, but sculpting as well. Check this stuff out!), it is no wonder that it retails for $69.99.
So, for those of you interested in getting your own copy, get it while the getting’s good!
